Bonfired Boots!

Bonfire Boots.

Garden  Centers need to always be on the lookout for items that compliment their garden pots . Like these Bonfire boots.

They are practical in that you can put a plant in them, and they are different.

It is not the type of item you sell, day in day out, but one which will slowly trickle out, in the meantime giving your garden center the reputation as the garden center that has all the garden pots .

This boot has been painted using a 2 pack paint and a technique that requires a certain knowledge, so it is note easy to do. Meaning the garden center next door will not have one of these currently, or in the near future as it is not easy to copy.

Keep an eye out for new items like this one. They really can add to your garden pots display.

Vietnamese Garden Pots

We rate Vietnamese garden pots as the one of the best quality in the world.

It is true they don't look as refined and perfect as some of the other pots but this is one of their biggest selling points. They look hand made. Which is what customers want. The perfect garden pots look more like plastic than a creation pulled from out of the ground and baked in a kiln for 10 hours.

Vietnamese garden pots are often thicker than the others. As Vietnamese kilns use wood instead of gas there is no need to skimp on the thickness of the clay.

This also makes the average Vietnamese pot heavy but lucky for our retailers this is what the customers want also. They want to feel like they are getting a solid garden pot for their money.

Sandblasted Garden Pots

These garden pots look like they have been retrieved from the bottom of the ocean.

They have a real textured finish and they are unique ie. they all have different colours, some are a dark grey and some are as light as terracotta. They suit the customer who wants a large pot for the back garden, not something pretty like a glazed pot but a rough, rugged pot.

Tuscan Garden Pots

Here is a sample of what we call our "Tuscan" garden pot range. They are like the traditional Terracotta but with a slight white wash. As these pots are porous we seal them inside and out.

This range has been one of our best for the last 10 years. As this clay does not have to be cooked to the temperature of glazed it allows us to do a few different styles and larger garden pots . Like a straight sided square - a Glaze pot in a wood fired kiln would almost always come out warped.

Terrazzo garden pots

These are terrazzo garden pots .

The tallest pot is one meter tall. I cannot buy one like this in clay - terracotta or glazed.

I can do a trough that is 110cm in terrazzo - I cannot buy one like this in clay - terracotta or glazed.

Terrazzo garden pots open up a whole new world of shapes you can't get in clay.

The corners and edges of terrazzo garden pots are pointed giving them a sharp look, you can't have this in clay.

This is why we sell more terrazzo garden pots than any other finish.

Terracotta garden pots

Terracotta garden pots are classical. Whilst certain finishes will come and go there will always be terracotta garden pots .

Painted Garden Pots

There is a large trend developing these days towards painted pots.

With the price of glazed garden pots on the rise they are considered a cheaper alternative also giving the customer a infinte number of colors in which to choose.

The paint technology these days is extremely effective in adhering to the garden pots . The problem of the paint just falling off the pots is no longer a problem.

Terrazzo garden pots

Terrazzo garden pots sells like no other finish in many countries these days.

But if they aren't made correctly then they will cause nothing but problems. Problems in your shop or problems at the customer's premise.

Some of the problems are easily fixed. For example concrete takes a long time to dry and a lot of factories are not giving the concrete enough time to dry before hitting it with a grinder (part of the process to make smooth terrazzo). This will decrease the strength of the garden pots . Another example is the pot must have a good sealer that will keep the colour in the concrete or the black will leach out eventually and you'll be left with a grey garden pot.

Glazed Garden pots

Not all garden pots sell the same.

This could not be more true for Glazed garden pots. The correct blue glaze will be your best seller, the incorrect one will be very ordinary.

Profit from Garden pots.

Do you sell garden pots ? If you do you'll probably know that some garden pots sell faster than others.

It seems like some styles are just so hard to keep in the store yet others though they do "tick over" are always in stock.

Do not dismiss this as "that's retail" if you don't have the best sellers the customers will go down the road and buy from your competition and leave you with the ones that just "tick over".

Here is the solution, it sounds simple but few actually do this. If a range of pots is 80% of your sales it should take up 80% of your floorspace, 80% of your orders and 80% of your time devoted to garden pots .

Sounds too simple but few will do this and those make more profit from garden pots .
